Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding how your Through Time Primary Care membership works alongside traditional insurance is key to getting the most out of your healthcare. Here is a guide to the most common questions regarding coverage, costs, and financial planning.
-
While your membership covers the vast majority of your everyday needs, it is not a substitute for comprehensive insurance. Think of your membership as your "everyday care" and insurance as your "safety net." Outside facilities and hospitals provide the following services, which are not included in your membership:
Hospitalizations and surgeries
Emergency Room (ER) and Urgent Care visits
Specialist consultations (e.g., Cardiology, Oncology)
-
Because we provide enhanced access and proactive care, many of our patients find they rarely need to visit the ER. To save on monthly premiums, many choose to pair their membership with a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), ACA marketplace plans, healthshare or a catastrophic plan.
This allows you to:Pay lower monthly insurance premiums.
Use your membership for high-value, personalized daily care.
Have insurance protection for rare, high-cost medical events.
-
It depends. Under current IRS rules, Direct Primary Care (DPC) memberships are not always considered HSA-eligible expenses. However, you can still use your HSA funds for many other related costs, such as:
Prescription medications
Laboratory tests
Imaging
Note: Regulations regarding DPC and HSAs are constantly evolving. We recommend consulting with a tax professional to see how to best structure your healthcare spending.
-
Our goal is to provide high-quality care that prevents medical issues from escalating. We support your financial health by:
Preventing ER Visits: Managing issues early so you can avoid expensive hospital bills.
Care Coordination: Helping you navigate the system if you do need a specialist or hospital stay.
Avoiding Hidden Costs: Guiding you through medical decisions to minimize unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.
